Cat’s Thoughts: There are a lot of stories in this ‘verse that could be considered a ‘turning point’, but I think this is one of the most important ones.
This story is where the first hints of family come through; May taking Fitz in hand the same way Coulson does Grant. While she doesn’t ultimately end up adopting Fitz (as you will see later on, he’s drawn into another family unit), this is a good indicator of May’s more softer, almost maternal side.
And the dangerous behaviour. Long-term readers will recognise this as a running theme; throughout most of the stories, but especially in the Redeeming Grant series. Even the parents (or heads) of the families aren’t above making bad choices when it comes to their own health and safety.
